Talisa Soto
Talisa Soto was born Miriam Soto on March 27th, 1976 in Brooklyn, New
York, NY, but was raised in Northampton, Massachusetts. As one of the
few Puerto Rican's in town, she felt unpopular and isolated during her
school years. When she was only fifteen, she was able to find a job in
modeling, but when she tried for acceptance at the Ford modeling agency,
she was refused as being too ethnic-looking. Undaunted, the ambitious
Talisa signed with Click Model Management and went to Europe, where she
found work in both Paris and Italy, appearing in Vogue, Glamour, and
Mademoiselle. With her secret ambitions to advance to an acting
career, Talisa returned to the United States, eventually finding work.
Her feature film debut was as India in "Spike of Bensonhurst" a 1988
comedy that starred Ernest Borgnine. The next year she landed her first
action picture role as as Bond Girl Lupe Lamora in "License to Kill"
along with Timothy Dalton. She found additional roles on television,
including an HBO anthology series, "Prison Stories: Women on the
Inside."
