Roselyn Sanchez

Roselyn Sanchez was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on April 2, 1973 (sometimes misstated as 1970). The youngest of four, Roselyn was the only daughter, who at an early age was excited by both acting and dancing, and entertained her family with shows. In 1991, at age eighteen, she moved to New York City where she studied acting, singing and dancing, then returned home for her movie debut (a small part in the Kurt Russell and Martin Short comedy, "Captain Ron."

In 1993, Roselyn won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest, moving on to become Miss America Petite. She had a brief stint as a co-host in a Puerto Rican variety show before returning to New York where she landed a role in the popular soap, "As the World Turns" in which she played the role of Pilar Domingo for two years (1996-1997). It was the first Latina role in the history of the soap opera. Her next big break came when she landed the role of Isabella Molina in the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker vehicle, "Rush Hour 2" (2001). She has since appeared in more than twenty films and is working on composing an autobiographical musical.

Roselyn is an advocate of animal rights, helping to promote the anti-fur campaign by appearing nude in a PETA advertisement. The entertainment world almost lost Roselyn when she decided to go to University to study marketing in order to accomplish for her family what none of her brothers had done, which was to take over the family business. But with her heart and talents mired in acting and dancing, she resumed her career, much to the delight of the Latino community and the world at large.

Among her other film credits, are "Boat Trip" with Cuba Gooding Jr., the thriller, "Nightstalker," and "Basic" With John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. She has also appeared in Spanish-language movies, including "Chasing Papi," with Sofia Vergara and Jaci Velasquez. Later on she was able to land the role of a detective in the resurrection of the television series, "Dragnet."
