Rosario Dawson
Rosario Dawson was born May 9, 1979 in New York City. Her father was an
Irish and Native American construction worker and her mother was an
Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican professional vocalist. Her career started
abruptly and accidentally at age fifteen when independent filmmaker
Larry Clark, encountered her on a Manhattan street and asked her to be
in a movie, "Kids," in the role of Ruby. Not only was the movie a
critical success, Rosario's performance was applauded. With success,
Rosario abandoned her plans of going to college and becoming a marine
biologist in order to pursue acting by attending the Lee Strasberg
Theatre Institute, an institution that has welcomed many up-and-coming artists
over the years, including
Rebecca Gayheart.
