Raica Oliveira

Raica Oliveira was born on January 22, 1984 in Niteri, Brazil, across the bay from Rio de Janeiro. Raica (pronounced Hi-KA) decided when she was ten years old that she would become a model, so when she was fifteen, she entered the Elite Model Look contest for 1999 in Brazil. She became the champion (out of no less than thirty thousand competitors), and with her win, she was taken to France for the final international competition. Although that year saw her finish second among the top competitors of the world, she was proclaimed "The Sensation" at the fall fashion shows in both Milan and Paris. She became a featured model for Christian Dior, in a campaign that saw her on the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Mademoiselle, and Cosmopolitan, to list only a few.

After the Christian Dior shoot, her career was instantaneous, and she appeared in campaign after campaign, with dozens of appearances on the runways of New York, Paris, Milan and Sao Paulo. Raica poured her energy into each campaign, building her reputation in strides, ultimately appearing for Dior, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino. She has appeared in editorials for Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Marie Claire, and Elle, but has yet to do Victoria's Secret. Raica has decided not to let her career go stale on the fashion catwalks, and intends to pursue philosophy in University after she retires, sometime in her twenties. Until then she has chosen a base of operations in New York with her mother as her guardian.
