Pilar Montenegro

Pilar Montenegro was born in Mexico as Maria del Pilar Montenegro Lopez on August 1, 1972. She began her artistic career as a pop singer, a member of Fresas Con Crema. The group did not last long, and in the latter part of 1989, Pilar was invited to join a popular tropical dance-pop group, called Garibaldi to replace Anghel. Produced by Luis de Llano, the group was a nationwide success, which vaulted Pilar to celebrity status, and before long she was appearing in Mexican soap operas. These included "Gotita De Amor," "Marisol," and "Volver A Empezar."

It was just another stepping stone in the direction of success, and before long Pilar released her solo debut album, "Son del Corazin" (1996). In 2004, Pilar was signed by Telemundo to sing the title song in "El Alma Herida." Later that year, she was one of a number of superstars to appear at the 2004 Telemundo fan fest, which was held in Los Angeles, appearing with fellow superstars, Mara Croatto, Ana Maria Polo, and Maria Celeste Arraras.
