Paulina Rubio

Paulina Rubio was born in Mexico City on June 17, 1971 as Paulina Susana Rubio. The daughter of a telenovelas actress (Susana Dosamantes), Paulina began her career at nine years old with the children's music group Timbiriche, who included among others, fellow artist, Thalia. After this, Paulina moved on to acting in the popular telenovelas on Mexican television. She got her first role in 1988 at age 17 as a villain in "Passion and Power." This was followed by the Spanish-language version of the musical, "Grease" ("Vaselina") then a television series, "Dance with Me" ("Baila Conmigo").

Within four years of her first role, Paulina had released her solo debut album, "The Golden Girl" ("La Chica Dorada"). With her film debut two years later, Paulina became one of the most popular artists in Mexico, going on to release her top-selling "Paulina," with the single success, "Sexual Lover." After this came her first English-language effort, entitled, "Border Girl."
