Patricia Velasquez

Patricia Velasquez was born on January 31, 1971 in Guajira, Venezuela. The second youngest of six, she was brought up by her teacher parents. After graduating from High School in 1987, she was heading in the direction of an Engineering and accounting path, in the hope that she could enter the Venezuelan oil industry. When a friend of hers aspiring to become a model, sent a photograph to an agency, by chance that photograph included Patricia. The agency wrote back: they wanted Patricia. Completing one year of College, Patricia set out to Milan, Italy hoping for a career in modeling. By 1998, she was appearing on catwalks in fashion shows for Bella Freud, Claude Montana, and Corinne Cobson. These were not the top designers but the ready-to-wear fashion creators. Patricia was able to acquire contracts to appear in ads for Chanel's Allure as well as Victoria's Secret Catalog. Her big chance came in 1994 when she appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for that year. A beauty pageant participant representing Venezuela, Patricia is probably best known for her exotic appearances in the feature films, "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns."

Not forgetting her humble beginnings, Patricia has chosen to support many charitable organizations, including the fair treatment of indigenous peoples and the fight against AIDS. Patricia's television work is extensive, including guest appearances in "CSI: Miami" and "Arrested Development." Her best feature film role was as Anck Su Namun in "The Mummy" (1999). Other films include "Ramona Beowulf" (1999) and "Pendra Eruption" (1997). She has also appeared on Late Show television and has been a presenter at awards ceremonies.
