Olsen Twins - Actresses
The Olsen twins were born on June 13, 1986,
(Year of the Tiger),
at Sherman Oaks, California.
After being taken to an audition for the television comedy series, "Full
House," along with Bob Saget and Candace
Cameron. (The audition was in 1987 when they were both aged 1).
Ashley Olsen (older by two minutes) and Mary-Kate, impressed the
producers enough to acquire the job that would ultimately see them
growing up on television. And how do you impress the producers at the
age of one? Apparently, but being the least difficult and not crying and
fussing. After the series ended in 1994, it was thought their careers
were over, but their popularity has allowed their parents (divorced, but
continuing to serve as the girls' managers), to find enough projects for
them to find success and wealth, if not artistic achievement. So far it
appears that they may follow the pattern of many child stars if they
don't develop individual talents. They are still in the category of
"Shirley Temple" cuties which can end very abruptly if they do not
enhance their skills. A lot of merchandising followed their career from
videos, to dolls, books, Olsen twins pictures, in fact everything you
would expect of twin versions of Shirley Temple. Being cute does not
last, however, and being paired with one another makes them virtually
indistinguishable. As fraternal twins they have differences that are
starting to manifest, other than just the fact that Ashley is
right-handed and Mary-Kate left handed, and slightly shorter.
They received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004 and received
nominations and awards for a variety of acting roles. These included
"Young Artist Award for Exceptional Performance by a Young Actress Under
Nine," "... Under Ten," "... Under Five Years of Age," plus many
others. We still await their artistic individual performances. Until
then, they remain youthful multi-millionaires, with the "touch of gold",
that has now extended into lines of clothing, cosmetics, and
furnishings. It all points to a destiny that has been predicted to hit
the billions. We only hope that their fate is better than many child
stars, and that they will one day achieve personal satisfaction from
their projects still unimagined. We also hope that they are not
surrounded by a multitude of greedy entrepreneurs who are giving them
bad advice and pushing them in strictly commercial directions. Let them
alone! Let them be artists!
