Natalia Oreiro was born Natalia Marisa Oreiro Iglesias Poggio Bourie on May 19, 1977 in Montevideo, Uruguay. After studying drama from the age of eight, Natalia (nicknamed Naty Natasha) auditioned at age twelve for advertisements, and found work in more than three dozen television commercials for many major advertisers, including Pepsi and Coca Cola. By age 16, Natalia had moved to Argentina and found work in small soap opera roles and as an MTV VJ. She had renounced her part as a paquita to Xuxa Meneghel to become a conductress on MTV Latino. In 1997 she was cast in the TV series "Ricos y famosos" as Valeria which brought her international attention beyond the borders of Argentina. After starring in an Argentine film, "Argentino en New York" (1998), she followed the path of the storyline about an ambitious teenager seeking musical stardom by launching her debut self-titled record, which included the single "Cambio dolor," which became the opening theme for prime time television show that became a hit in Argentina, Europe, and the Middle East (1998-1999).

Natalia Oreiro received nominations for Argentine television awards and in 2000, she became Entertainment Television Network's "Celebrity of the Year." Her next major appearance was on the prestigious Latin TV Show "Sabado Gigante Internacional", and her most notable musical achievement was in a 2000 Chile Festival during which she was crowned the Queen of the event. Natalia has received numerous offers to film in Spain, Italy, and the United States and has been invited by the Uruguyan national football team to participate in the opening of a game between Uruguay and Korea. In 2002, she was named the godmother to the national Uruguayan football team. In 2003, she started filming her second film, a Spanish co-production, "Cleopatra." Natalia is a vegetarian and a member of Greenpeace. On the last day of 2001, she married Ricardo Mollo, the leader of an Argentine rock band, "Divididos." .15hqqw.
