Destiny Hope Cyrus, later to become simply Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country superstar Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia Finley, born November 23, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee. From an early age, Miley was eager to get into acting, to follow in the footsteps of her Achy Breaky Heart dad. The ever smiling young girl earned her nickname as Smiley, which ultimately was streamlined to Miley. The young Destiny persisted in wanting to get into the act, despite her parent's efforts to protect her and let her just enjoy her childhood. In spite of guest spots in Tim Burton's Big Fish (Young Ruthie, credited as Destiny Cyrus) and television shows, it wasn't until she was 13 that she competed for and won the lead spot in the new Disney series, Hannah Montana.

At first, Destiny Hope was rejected because she was too small and too young, but her eagerness and energy finally won out, and it was apparent that she would grow into the part. With her father cast as her father, Hannah Montana debuted in March 2006 on the Disney channel, giving to its massive fanbase the delights of an average growing teenager, who just happens to be a famous singer. The show was an instant hit for the teen and pre-teen set, and life immitated art with the Hannah Montana first album, released in June 2007, Meet Miley Cyrus. The brilliance of the series is not just the personality of the young star, but the clean image she projects, a pleasant parentally-approved change from the now aging teen queens and their predictably raw overly choreographed dance routines and offstage antics.

Miley's second album, Breakout quickly became a million seller after its July 2008 release, and her follow-up tour became a hot item, the tickets selling out so quickly that many fans complained they never got a chance. Well, they'll all get a chance to see her movie, entitled Hannah Montana: The Movie, which is scheduled for release in April, 2009. With stardom, came the usual microscopic study of the young Miley, and reports she was dating Nick Jonas, the 14-year-old youngest member of the equally popular Jonas brothers, but the romance did not last long. At home, the well-supervised youngster has her chores, attendance in church, and basically, was kept on a tight and loving leash, for fear she strayed into the seamy worlds of Spears or Lohan. Somebody tried to ruin her squeaky-clean image with a pregnancy hoax, but it never took flight, and then a later photo shoot captured a few semi-clothed pictures that hit the media and brought her some embarrassment, as they were supposed to be artistic. Topless, but hidden by a sheet, exposing only her back, the photo upset some of the parents of fans. After all, she was only 15 years old. It was later explained that she had been manipulated for the sole purpose of trying to sell magazines. Keep your head up and your clothes on, Miley. There's a lot of sleeze-bags out there.

Recently, Miley was named PEOPLE's richest kid in the world, after raking in a million a week when she was no tour, along with more than 6 million album sales and up to a billion dollars worth of Hannah Montana merchandise.
