Michelle Branch
Michelle Branch was born Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch in Phoenix
Arizona on July 2nd, 1983. Named after the Beatles-hit song, the young
girl, whose ancestry includes Ireland, Holland, France and Indonesia,
has developed into a superb singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She
started out writing songs and taking singing lessons. After quitting
school, she performed in local clubs before she independently released
her debut album, "Broken Bracelet" in 2000. This led to her being
signed by Maverick Records, Madonna's record company. Her first
Maverick album, "The Spirit Room" was released the following year,
generating International hit single, "Everywhere," and U.S. top-10 hit
"All You Wanted." The album went on to sell more than a million
copies. As lead vocalist on a Carlos Santana song, "The Game of Love,"
she watched it reach the top five in the U.S. and go on to win a Grammy
for Best Pop Collaboration.
It was two years later, in 2003, that Michelle released her second
commercial album, "Hotel Paper," which eventually achieved platinum
status, despite mixed reviews. The next year, Michelle, along with
Jessica Harp, created the band, "The Wreckers" and that year married the
band's bassist, Teddy Landau, giving birth to a girl in the fall of
2005. Michelle has had numerous Grammy nominations and has performed at
the Superbowl and on top of the Madison Square Garden marquee, thereby
