Maribel Guardia

Maribel Guardia was born May 29, 1960 in Costa Rica. At age 17, she won the Miss Costa Rica title, then went on to compete in the Miss Universe contest in Acapulco in 1978, and was selected as the "most photogenic". With many offers from modeling agencies, as well as talent agencies and Televisa producer, Sergio Bustamante, Maribel decided to relocate to Mexico where she soon became a local star. From television soaps, Maribel advanced to Mexican feature films, her debut film being "Como Mexico No Day Dos."

Within the next ten years, Maribel was a recording star, releasing many CD's, intermixed with modeling events, appearing on the covers of Latin American fashion magazines. With more than two dozen films to her credit and numerous ventures into television soap operas, Maribel was invited to appear at many charity events, and was all too willing to comply. She eventually became a mother, the father being her leading man from from the series "Tu y Yo." Over the years, Maribel gained a iconic beauty status, equal to the top American stars within Latin America, numbering Mexican actor Cantinflas and sports hero Pele among her many fans. To the Latin press she adoringly remains as "La Bella," in an unequalled love affair between actresses and her numerous fans.
