Julieta Venegas was born in Tijuana, Mexico on November 24, 1970. After studying piano at an early age, Julieta joined a series of bands and honed her skills before embarking on a solo career. A songwriter and vocalist, the talented Julieta plays many instruments, most notably the keyboard, acoustic guitar, cello, and accordion. She went to the United States while still in her teens to study at South Western College in San Diego. Later, she moved to Mexico City where she began writing music for plays. She started her own band, La Milagrosa, but after being offered a contract with BMG, she started work on her solo debut album, which she recorded in Los Angeles. BMG released her album throughout Latin America, Spain, and the United States where it won critical praise wherever it appeared. She toured North America and Spain, and was much in demand for her musical contributions to albums by other artists, including Enrique Bunbury and Mastretta. Julieta appeared at numerous major festivals and contributed her musical talents to a number of movie soundtracks, ultimately achieving a 2004 Latin Grammy for Best Vocal Rock Album. Other Grammy nominations included Best Rock Song for "Hoy No Queiro" and Best Rock Album for Bueninvento.

Julieta settled in Madrid and Buenos Aires to record a third album which became a commercial breakthrough success which generated a number of hit singles. The hits helped to power the album to unimaginable heights of success, leading to a number four spot on Billboard's Latin Pop Chart. Julieta's works avoid the self-indulgent anger of many of her peers, as she writes and performs music that is bright, happy, and upbeat, an attitude that has attracted many fans around the world and lead to a continually ascending critical acclaim.
