Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani was born Gwen Renee Stefani on October 3, 1969 in Anaheim, California. With roots in Italy, Ireland, and Scotland, Gwen includes acting, fashion design and singing among her artistic pursuits. She is best known as the female lead for rock band "No Doubt," with her carefully composed image, probably her best asset. In 2004, she composed and recorded her first solo album, "Love, Angel, Music, Baby." which combined hip hop and dance, the single "Hollaback Girl" from the album surpassing one million in sales. Nominated for five Grammy awards, she failed to win any of the awards that were held in early 2006.

Much interest, subtle humor, and perhaps politics in the winning of the awards, is likely bound up in her use of her Japanese Harajuku Girls, who have been named Love, Angel, Music, and Baby by the artist. They were named after a popular fashion and shopping area in Tokyo, the Harajuku Station. She has been criticized for using the strangely dressed girls, (often referred to as Gothic Lolita style, as promoting a "submissive asian female stereotype" and has also been referred to as a minstrel show of Asian women.

A sometimes fashion designer, the images of Gwen Stefani Gallery receive a boost from her sense of fashion which she has raised to the level of a fashion line, named appropriately L.A.M.B. (Love, Angel, Music, Baby). She wears the clothes herself during tours and promotions, and they have been snapped up by many celebrities, including Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson, and Halle Berry.
