Adriana Lima

Adriana Lima was born Adriana Francesca Lima on June 12, 1981 (a Gemini) in the town of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. When the young girl was barely into her teens, she was discovered at a local shopping mall. Two years later she entered a nationwide model search, and won first place. Advancing to the 1996 Ford Supermodel World contest, Adriana came in second. After relocating to New York, Adriana signed with the Elite Model agency, which led to appearances in the international editions of Marie Claire and Vogue. She was also a runway model appearing for Valentino and Christian Lacroix. After a featured appearance on a billboard in New York's Times Square, her reputation spread, and eventually she was signed to become a Guess? Girl in their 2000 campaign. Adriana kept busy with Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and Victoria's Secret Catalogue where she became world famous, opening for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2003. She has also become a spokesperson for Armani Jeans.

Not willing to limit her work to modeling, Adriana had a starring role in the 2001 short, "The Follow," along with Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke. Adriana's personal life has been as dramatic as her career, with romantic connections to rock star Lenny Kravitz, to whom she was briefly engaged, Major League Baseball player, Derek Jeter, and Prince Wenzeslaus of Liechtenstein. As with many well-established supermodels, Adriana has found time for charitable enterprises, especially Brazilian orphanages. According to Adriana, "Fashion is about good energy. ... I have to give the people good energy and good feelings."
